Tribal Gathering ‘97

Tribal Gathering was a dance music festival,that was amongst the first to stage the now familiar large scale events with different arenas for different genres of music.
The 1997 event at Luton Hoo,Bedfordshire,was headlined by Kraftwerk and was a massive success.Radio 1 broadcast sets,or partial live sets from several acts from this event,among them..

Monkey Mafia-Live @ Edinburgh Venue

Monkey Mafia were essentially Jon Carter,the Heavenly Sunday Social dj a Big Beat fanatic from Essex.Carter’s take on Big Beat included Dancehall and Ragga influences,Soundsystem imagery and big fat basslines.

They made a superb album Shoot The Boss.Highly recommended.
I have a pretty good short live set by them which you can download here . Recorded on 6/4/98 at The Edinburgh Venue and broadcast by Radio 1.This was recorded to cassette,transferred and tape hiss removed with Goldwave,It’s not perfect,but it’s listenable and it will give you a good idea what to expect from the album if you have never heard it.
